Hawaii

[Palm Springs International Film Festival 2015 report]
A young writer alone in a house and its grounds, working on his novel. A handsome young homeless handyman, the writer’s childhood friend, looking for work. One summer in the Argentine countryside. Will they or won’t they? It takes a maddening two hours of breathless anticipation to get to the heart of HAWAII (the title of this Spanish-language idyll serves perhaps as shorthand for the hesitancy and uncertainty of possible romance that’s the crux of the film). But it’s poetically beautiful getting there. –YSM

About Your Sacrificial Moviegoer

We love to sit in the dark with a big tub of popcorn amid a roomful of strangers. Reports on what we witness there come in two varieties: Bullet Reviews quickly and concisely convey our take on a film, always in spoiler-free fashion; Trailer Trash reveals Your Sacrificial Moviegoer's best prediction on whether an upcoming movie is worth seeing, based solely on the trailer (the short "previews" before the feature presentation).
