Big Eyes
Great leading actors can’t save BIG EYES from its plodding fate. As Margaret and Walter Keane (Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz) make a mint off her big-eyed kitschy art while he claims to be the artist, director Tim Burton inexplicably manages to make the growing tension between the real artist and her huckster husband the least animated tale he’s ever told. Only the final courtroom battle crackles with its lunacy, and by then, it’s too late. —YSM

About Your Sacrificial Moviegoer
We love to sit in the dark with a big tub of popcorn amid a roomful of strangers. Reports on what we witness there come in two varieties: Bullet Reviews quickly and concisely convey our take on a film, always in spoiler-free fashion; Trailer Trash reveals Your Sacrificial Moviegoer's best prediction on whether an upcoming movie is worth seeing, based solely on the trailer (the short "previews" before the feature presentation).
