American Sniper

Biopic of the deadliest AMERICAN SNIPER in history, as told through Clint Eastwood’s nationalistic lens. Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper, proficient in a role that mostly calls for jaw clenching) mops up “savages” in Iraq at a brisk clip, and while the film excels at cataloging the personal toll his deployments take on him and his family, it remains largely unreflective on war in general and this cowboy war (Dubya leading the charge into Iraq, because, uh, WMD+9/11; mission accomplished!) in particular. Many Americans will be fine with that and will find this technically crisp bit of filmmaking satisfying. I’m not one of them. –YSM

About Your Sacrificial Moviegoer

We love to sit in the dark with a big tub of popcorn amid a roomful of strangers. Reports on what we witness there come in two varieties: Bullet Reviews quickly and concisely convey our take on a film, always in spoiler-free fashion; Trailer Trash reveals Your Sacrificial Moviegoer's best prediction on whether an upcoming movie is worth seeing, based solely on the trailer (the short "previews" before the feature presentation).
